Post 2010 / 2011 Earthquakes

The consequences and opportunities for architects in Christchurch were numerous.

Firstly the realization of just what the consequences were for the built environment in Christchurch took some time to be realized, followed by a slow move to understand and document the damage and the even slower move to begin the repair and rebuild.

The battle lines were beginning to be drawn up between ourselves and our clients and the insurers and their PMO’s, including EQC and Fletcher EQR ( this is also the subject of much debate and I have written several articles on this and these are published in the articles section.

On the positive side, as Architects, we did gain significant traction and opportunities, but these were too often hampered by the overly restrictive and unrealistic settlement of claims.

The projects listed below show some of this post-earthquake work, but unfortunately, over 75% of our time was spent on representing and advocating on behalf of our clients.
